The event, which will be held on March 12 and 13 in Ifepa, has its own space where proposals on a wide range of topics and trends will be developed
Fans of Japanese comics, anime and illustration have an appointment on March 12 and 13 at the Ifepa fairgrounds, in Torre Pacheco, where ‘Winter freak 2022, VII Manga and Alternative Culture Fair of the Region of Murcia’, an event that aims to bring together all those interested in the ‘freak’ culture.
The event will continuously offer more than 200 different activities for all ages. Among other proposals, there will be a ‘K-Pop’ zone for fans of this Korean rhythm and a ‘Game’ zone prepared with multiple video consoles and their respective tournaments. The ‘E-Sports’ will have a great focus with FIFA, Super Smash Bros or Fortnite tournaments thanks to Fangames.
‘Winter Freak’ will offer a wide range of topics and trends, from Japanese culture with its traditions, history or mythology, to its literature and animation and everything related to alternative culture, whether through video games, cinema, television, comics, K -pop or Youtube.
The Youth General Directorate sponsors the event together with the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts (ICA) and Libera Telecom. The general director, José Manuel López, explained in the presentation that “in just a few years this meeting has become the best event in the area, both in terms of content and facilities, to the point that in the last edition it managed to attract more than 12,000 visitors.
For his part, the general director of the ICA, Manuel Cebrián, specified that “the Region of Murcia will once again be the European capital of Manga culture for a few days thanks to this event, which for the first time is sponsored by the ICA. We are already a benchmark in this genre, which is a very important part of the publishing market and motivates multiple adaptations to different formats: anime or live-action animation series, movies, video games and novels.
Own space for activities
The General Directorate for Youth will have its own space of 100 square meters, with a 4-meter screen that simulates a concert hall, where youth information activities will be carried out in a dynamic and participatory way to publicize the programs and actions that the regional government carries out aimed at young people.
A part of the stand will go to the Youth Card, promoted by the Community and CaixaBank, and among the organized activities there will be a presentation ‘Comic Odios Cotidianos’, to raise awareness among young people against hate crimes; creative writing workshop ‘Loesje’; ‘SúperCES’, the volunteers of the European Solidarity Corps; as well as craft workshops ‘Create Your Pokemon Figure’, ‘Your manga business’ to give the keys to entrepreneurship, and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases in collaboration with Red Youth Cross.
In this space there will also be a ‘Make up Cosplay’ demonstration, concerts by young Murcians participating in the EstrenArte Festival and students from the Severo Ochoa school will perform a performance against gender violence and bullying.
The initiatives of the regional government in terms of youth housing, the offer of youth tourism and activities in the hostels of the Region will also be disseminated. All information can be found at ifepa.es and winterfreak.universofreak.com
