After the end of the third season of The Mandalorian, many have wondered what the next step will be for Din Djarin and Grogu. Well, we finally have an answer, and it won't be a new season for the Disney+ series, instead, these characters will come to the big screen. That's how it is, a movie of The Mandalorian is already in production.
Through a statement, it has been confirmed that a film by The Mandalorian starring Din Djarin and Grogu, which is named after Mandalorian & Groguis already in development, and will go into production this year. Jon Favreau, co-creator of the Disney+ series, will be in charge of directing this new production, which will be produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni. This is what Favreau commented on the matter:
“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
For her part, Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, added the following:
“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have introduced two beloved new characters to Star Wars, and this new story fits perfectly on the big screen.”
The Mandalorian & Grogu joins Lucasfilm's slate of films in development, including films directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold and Dave Filoni, who is also currently developing the second season of Ahsoka. At the moment there is no release date, but it is very likely that we will have more information throughout 2024. On related topics, a fourth season of The Mandalorian It is already in development. Likewise, Pedro Pascal would stop starring in this series.
Editor's Note:
It will be interesting to see a movie The Mandalorian, especially considering that this could well be a joining point between the Disney+ series, and the large-scale conflict against Thrawn that Filoni is working on for the big screen. I can't wait anymore, because this is the way.
