“I loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” said Jon Favreau. “The perspective of bring to the big screen the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu is really exciting.”
“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni introduced in Star Wars two new and beloved charactersand this new story is perfect for the big screen,” added Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.
A project born by chance?
As mentioned, in recent weeks rumors have been circulating with increasing insistence that the fourth season of The Mandalorian would become a film, and it seems that the idea came to the producers last summerduring the writers' and actors' strikes.
The hope is that the project will arouse the desired interest and bring the many fans of the show with Pedro Pascal to cinemas.
