The ‘Malinche’ interns ask to testify before the judge to “tell their truth”

The 17 scholarship recipients of the musical Malinche They have sent a letter to the magistrate of the Court of Instruction number 19 of Madrid, Inmaculada Iglesias, to request to give a statement and “tell their truth.” The request comes after the suspension of the appearance of the complainant and former musical production intern, Lesly Ochoa, scheduled for October 4, alleging anxiety.

Judge Antonio Serrano-Arnal, who covered the vacation absence of the chief judge of the Court of Instruction number 19 of Madrid, Inmaculada Iglesias, suspended the declaration of the 17 scholarship holders on August 28. This appearance was scheduled for the following day, August 29. The scholarship recipients returned to Mexico on September 1, after completing their training period in Spain, without having been able to testify before the Court.

In the letter, as sources from the production company of Nacho Cano’s musical have informed Europa Press, the Mexican scholarship recipients claim to be “concerned” about the possibility that “the delay (in the declaration), added to other previous attempts to prolong the process, continues to generate serious damage” to their “image, work and emotional stability.”

“It seems paradoxical to us that, as we who have suffered a direct attack on our reputation, both individually and collectively, the complainant continues to delay this procedure, avoiding clarifying the facts in court,” they wrote in the letter sent to the court.

For this reason, the students ask the judge to “grant a date and time to render a legal statement.” Furthermore, they believe “that it is essential that they be given the opportunity to exercise” their “legitimate right to defend themselves” and offer their “version of the facts.”

“Victims of political persecution”

The scholarship holders of Malinche They reported to the Police at the Leganitos Police Station on July 8. In this complaint, which is being investigated by court number 38 of Madrid, they stated that “the Police obtained their statements illegally under threats and coercion,” according to the producer.

“Therefore, the scholarship recipients are not victims of Nacho Cano, they are victims of Lesly Ochoa and political persecution. The Police of the Leganitos Police Station have violated their fundamental rights and have obtained WhatsApp and private information illegally. These police officers tried to obtain data in an illegal and criminal manner,” added the music producer.

As insisted from Malinche“they tried to direct the girls to obtain an accusation against Nacho Cano for crimes against sexual freedom and the boys tried to obtain data to accuse Nacho Cano of humiliating treatment (such as, for example, subjecting them to rigorous diets).” In both cases, the company adds, “not being able to obtain these statements, they fabricated the crimes of illegal immigration and against the rights of foreign workers.”
