Leslie Guadalupe, the intern who denounced Nacho Cano for alleged crimes against the rights of foreigners and musical workers Malinchehe declared this Thursday before the judge responsible for the car. The Mexican was called to testify on October 28 in the Court of Instruction number 19 of Madrid against the former member of Mecano and three directors of the function, but she managed to have it suspended because she was not “in a position” to defend herself for not counting “with a trusted lawyer.”
Now with a new lawyer, Alfredo Arrién, with whom this newspaper has been able to speak, has appeared, to address the possible crime of literal immigration and labor exploitation. “The statement has been very emphatic, very long, very exhaustive and has answered all the questions very firmly and plausibly,” explains the lawyer, who has acknowledged that, even so: “There is still a long way to go.”
“Leslie has told how she was captured in Mexico, how she evaded border control to be able to enter as a tourist, how she developed her work activity for the musical Malinche and how that employment relationship finally ended and the complaint was filed,” he says. The lawyer recognizes that the part of the statement related to the labor inspection has been “more ambiguous”: “The report has been submitted only in the documentation provided by the company, and has not been verified.”
Even so, he considers that, overall, “what was achieved this Thursday is quite good,” despite the fact that there is “a good way to go.” Regarding this case, the lawyer advances that, for the moment, “the investigation will continue.” The dancer will have to return to court, in this case Court Number 22 in Madrid, led by Judge Patricia Jiménez-Alfaro, who opened proceedings after the complaint of threats that Nacho Cano filed against Leslie Guadalupe. She is summoned to testify on December 12.
