A user protested yesterday morning on social networks about the Cercanías service: «My train leaving Pinto at 8:09 has arrived on time, but we have spent more than 10 minutes standing in Villaverde and we have been waiting for another 10 minutes in Atocha. We would like to at least know the reason for this. Decent service now. It is one more complaint that is regularly received by travelers who use this service. And the Cercanías network closed 2024 with a total of 1,014 incidents recorded on its lines by the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium.
The figure represents almost three problems on the network every day. The most affected lines have been the C-4 (Parla-Cantoblanco and connection with Alcobendas-San Sebastián de los Reyes and with Colmenar Viejo), with 225 incidents, according to data collected by the CRTM collected by Ep.
Behind it are line C-3 (Aranjuez-Chamartín), with 164, C-8 (Guadalajara-Cercedilla), with 131, and C-5 (Móstoles-Humanes), which has suffered 104 incidents.
The most prominent reasons for these incidents have been breakdowns in rolling stock, with a total of 240 incidents, and those recorded in the facilities, with 433.
Among the problems that had the most resonance was the derailment of a convoy without passengers on October 19 in the tunnel that connects the Atocha and Chamartín stations. Finally, the convoy was withdrawn on October 9.
