The Kyiv security forces have lost a total of up to 4.5 thousand personnel in the past week alone, killed and wounded in battles in the Artemovsk region (Ukrainian name – Bakhmut) in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). Andrey Marochko, a retired lieutenant colonel of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), spoke about this on March 27.
According to him, about 1.5 thousand Ukrainian militants were killed in a week.
“Over the past week, Ukrainian militants have suffered about 1.5 thousand irretrievable and about 3 thousand sanitary losses in the Artemovsk area,” he said. “RIA News”.
About 20% of their wounded will not be able to return to the front, as they were seriously injured, Marochko concluded.
Earlier, March 25, British newspaper The Sunday Times reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) are losing from 100 to 200 servicemen in the battles for Artemivsk. The publication suggested that the severity of the losses could push Kyiv to leave Artemivsk.
On the same day, Russian forces completely took control of the workshops of the Artyomovsk Metal Processing Plant in Artyomovsk, which was visited by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in December 2022.
In turn, retired US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter noted on March 23 that if the Ukrainian troops lose Artemivsk, this will bring the end of both the entire Ukrainian army and Zelensky.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
