The Community has improved the accesses to the archaeological site of Los Villaricos de Mula, one of the forty projects included in the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan (PSTD) for 2022. In this way, sources from the Executive point out, the regional government advances in its objective of positioning Sierra Espuña as one of the main sustainable and ecotourism destinations in Spain.
To carry out this project, an investment of close to 60,000 euros has been made, which has allowed the reform of the entrance walkway to the Roman villa and the construction of another new walkway that gives access to the area where part of the necropolis is located. , atrium and basilica.
The general director of the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, (Itrem), Juan Francisco Martínez, who visited the site this week, highlighted the importance of the PSTD of Sierra Espuña. An initiative, he stressed, that is completed “through actions that embellish the historical sites in the area and enhance its resources, among which are the Argaric, Islamic, pottery and cave painting routes.” In addition, the general director of Itrem recalled that it has the participation of the central and regional governments; municipalities, through the tourist community; entrepreneurs and local population.
Martínez also pointed out that this plan includes actions “to promote excellence and safety in tourist services, accessibility and promotion, in addition to digitization, training and the information offered.”
Other initiatives underway
Other actions highlighted within the plan for this year are the adaptation of the tourist offices of Mula and Totana and the improvements of the Plaza del Lavador, in Librilla, and the Senda del Albacar and the shelter of the Milano, in Mula. Also planned is the recovery of a house next to the Pozos de la Nieve, the adaptation of the La Almoloya, in Pliego, and La Bastida, in Totana, sites, the conditioning of a path that borders the old town of Aledo, as well as such as the development of bioitineraries.
