Moves throughout Europe and offers low-cost asphalt road repairs that it charges and does not run
The Local Police of Lorca prevents a criminal gang dedicated to the ‘asphalt scam’ from acting in the upper districts. The agents were alerted by the residents of La Paca that several people were offering them to do asphalt work on roads, and that some were traveling in vehicles with foreign registration.
The agents identified ten people of Irish and Polish origin and verified that they are members of a gang that moves through Europe and that is allegedly dedicated to the ‘asphalt scam’. They offer entrepreneurs to pave their own roads at very low prices and usually justify the offer with the excuse that the material they will use has left over from other works.
In case of accepting the offer, they ask for an advance of most of the money and when they collect it, they disappear without having executed the work. Other times they do it with very low quality materials and increase the previously agreed price and extort money from the customer if they do not accept.
One of the alleged scammers is being investigated for an alleged crime of falsification of documents as he was driving a truck with an Irish license plate that had been forged, so the agents proceeded to intervene and deposit the vehicle. In addition, the compulsory insurance was also false, which is why proceedings have been instructed for an alleged crime of document falsification, which have been sent to the Civil Guard.
It was also verified that the fuel tank of the truck contained diesel B, used for agricultural use, but that it is prohibited for other vehicles in Spain, so the corresponding administrative complaints were made that can lead to penalties of up to 12,000 euros.
