A vibrant European day ended with poor results for the majority of Spaniards. Only Real Madrid and Betis, in the Europa League, have managed to win their European matches. In fact, these two teams are the only ones that would be classified for the next round of their tournaments, the rest have complicated their passage to the next phase, which makes it very clear that the Spanish teams are no longer the most powerful in Europe.
The Spanish League has been in crisis for a long time, to the point that from the very leadership of the organization they have requested a rescue from the CVC company. This lack of profitability of La Liga and the teams has meant that little by little talent has left Spain. On the other hand, the Premier League is going through its best moment, many large investors have landed in the teams, and they have also managed to sell the television rights for astronomical amounts. Without going any further, last week we learned that they had reached an agreement with NBC that meant doubling the income. This will imply that the English teams are growing, while in Spain, this situation is not being tackled in the correct way, and a more attractive league is not being achieved.
In Europe we can see this drop in level, since we see how Barça is on the tightrope in a group that was not complicated, Atlético de Madrid does not depend on itself, and Villarreal and Sevilla must win their respective games to be in eighths. To make matters worse, Real Sociedad lost to Monaco in the Europa League, and remains in a difficult position in their group.
In other times, Real Madrid, Atlético and Barça dominated the Champions League, while teams like Sevilla and Ahtletic de Bilbao did the same in the Europa League. This advantage was due in large part to the talent in the La Liga teams, but also to the level of the coaches. Spain is not knowing how to attract the best technicians for its teams, at least in comparison with the Premier and that is reflected in the game.
The League must consider taking serious measures to first be more attractive and gain an audience, so that from there, it can grow economically and therefore attract more talent.
