There's still a long way to go before we can see the new episodes of The Last of Us: Season 2considering that filming will begin shortly, but in the meantime HBO has officially announced that Abby will be one of the protagonists of the new season and that will be played by actress Kaitlyn Dever.
This is a confirmation of the rumors that had already emerged in recent months: already in November, the journalist Jeff Sneider had reported that the production had chosen Dever to play the role of the rocky co-protagonist of The Last of Us Part 2 , in the television adaptation.
This is another important name that joins the cast of The Last of Us: Kaitlyn Dever is an American actress already known in films and TV series and in particular for having starred in “Unbelievable”, “Revenge of the Losers”, “Short Term 12” and “The Man of the house”.
A careful choice
Despite his young age, during his career he has already received two Golden Globe nominations and an Emmy award. Furthermore, it seems that the actress had already been taken into consideration previously for the role of Elliewhich then went to Bella Ramsey, but Dever evidently made an impression and was brought back to play Abby in Season 2.
We can actually see a certain similarity in the somatic features, but we are waiting to understand if the actress will undergo some type of specific training to better resemble her muscular girl-soldier of The Last of Us Part II or if his appearance is still expected to be a little different in the TV series compared to the original.
In any case, the authors Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann reiterated that they wanted only the best for the cast of the series: “Our casting process for season 2 was identical to the first season,” said Mazin, co-writer of The Last of Us for HBO, “we are looking for actors of world caliber that can embody the souls of the characters from the source material. Nothing matters more than talent, and we are thrilled to have a great actress like Kaitlyn join Pedro, Bella and the rest of the family.”
Pedro Pascal in the role of Joel and Bella Ramsey in the role of Ellie are also confirmed, obviously. The Last of Us series was produced by HBO starting from the Sony PlayStation series, and can be seen in Italy exclusively on Sky and NOWfrom 16 January 2023.
As for Season 2, HBO Max has officially confirmed that it will be released in 2025, with a launch period yet to be specified.
