Russia will become inaccessible to competitors when the creation of a new scientific infrastructure is completed in it. This was announced on March 19 by Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute”.
Speaking at a meeting of scientists at the All-Russian Research Institute of Radiology and Agroecology (VNIIRAE) in the Kaluga Region, Kovalchuk noted the importance of supporting the initiatives of Russian scientists. He pointed out that over the past decades, Russia has been convinced that it has no science, but this is not so.
“Indeed, there was a period when it seemed that only one Kurchatov Institute had science. I must say that it is not. This is a great happiness and success of our predecessors, who did a lot of things very competently,” Kovalchuk said.
The head of the scientific research institute noted that the predecessors of the current Russian scientists created an infrastructure that is the basis of Russia’s national security. It has not only been preserved, but continues to improve further.
“For example, the accelerator in Protvino (Proton Synchrotron, built in 1967 at the Institute of High Energy Physics – Ed.) – it was the most powerful proton accelerator in the world. Today he is third. And now the state has decided to actually create a fundamentally new infrastructure, which over the next 5-8 years will make our country inaccessible in terms of opportunities,” the scientist said.
According to him, Russian science has great potential, and domestic specialists should be given opportunities for self-realization. Because among them there are such employees who have such knowledge that no one else in the world has.
It was reported yesterday that Russian scientists from the Institute of Design and Technological Informatics of the Russian Academy of Sciences have developed a robot for abdominal surgery, which is cheaper and more functional than its foreign counterparts. After the introduction of such a robot in the medical system, Russians can perform operations almost free of charge.
On the same day, it became known that specialists from the Moscow Aviation Institute and NPO Lavochkin JSC were working together on a technology for removing spacecraft from low Earth orbit.
On Friday, March 4, the staff of the National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute” also issued an appeal to Russian scientists, in which they supported the conduct of a special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass.
