The Korn Ferry Tour, the promotion circuit to the PGA Tour, will have its stop in Bogotá next week, when the Astara Golf Championship is played. The tournament reaches its fourteenth edition in the country and will be played on the two fields of the Country Club of Bogotá.
Until now, Three Colombians have already guaranteed their presence in the tournament, which will be played from February 8 to 11: Marcelo Rozo, the only one with a card on the Korn Ferry Tour and who is returning from an injury; Daniel Faccini, winner of the local club qualifying tournament, and Ricardo 'Pipo' Celia, who will enter via 'sponsor exemption', like the Argentine Julián Etuláin.
There will be 39 local players who will be looking for two spots for the tournament, which was won in 2023 by the Australian Rhein Gibson. The experienced Jesús Amaya, Iván Camilo Ramírez, Daniel Zuluaga, Santiago Chamorro and Mateo Gómez stand out on the list. Zuluaga already played in the tournament last year.
The qualification tournament will begin at 6:50 in the morning and will be played on the field that has traditionally hosted the tournament, Fundadores. During the week of the tournament there will also be action on the other court, Pacos and Fabios.

Sebastián Muñoz's title, the great milestone
The local legion will seek to follow the steps it followed at the time Juan Sebastián Muñoz, who entered the tournament in 2016 without having a Korn Ferry Tour card and via the invitation card, and ended up winning the tournament. At the end of that year he secured his card on the PGA Tour.
Since then, the best Colombian performance was obtained by Camilo Villegas, who in 2020 finished in fourth place.
The most important player in the history of Colombian professional golf will not be competing in Bogotá this year: his victory in the Bermuda Championship allowed him to regain his card on the PGA Tour.
A good part of the field that will be in the Astara Golf Championship is playing the Panama Championship this week. The final list of participants will be revealed this Friday.
