Shabab Al-Ahly won the men’s volleyball league title for the 2021-2022 season, by defeating rivals Al-Nassr 3-2 in the return leg of the final that brought together the poles of the “old derby” at Saeed bin Maktoum Hall in Al Mamzar, to win the “Knights” title in favor of his superiority in The first leg of the final was 3-1 at Rashid Bin Hamdan Hall at Al Nasr Club, while the match to determine the “third and fourth places”, which preceded the final match, witnessed a 3-1 victory for Baniyas over Al Ain.
The end of the league summit was filled with excitement and suspense until the end, as the “Brigadier” started the confrontation by advancing 25-23 in the first half, and the “Knights” returned to the match in the second and third periods at 25-23 and 25-22, while the result of the first half went in favor of victory by 25 – 21, before the “Knights” won the title in the fifth and final game, with a score of 15-12.
Abdullah Al Darmaki, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Volleyball Association, in the presence of Abdul Razzaq Al Hashemi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Nasr Sports Games, crowned the Al Fursan players with the league shield and gold medals amid massive celebrations from the public, while Al Ahly youth players “runner-up” won silver medals.
The crowning of the “League Champion” was preceded by honoring the players of Baniyas “third place” and Al Ain “fourth”, with the participation of Osama Gargash, First Vice President of the Volleyball Federation and Chairman of the Financial Resources Development and Marketing Committee, Dr. Vice President of the Federation for Internal Representation, next to Majed Sultan, Executive Director of Team Games, Shabab Al-Ahly Club.
Al-Ahly youth achieved a record by winning the shield without losing 18 matches in a row, starting from the first round and the “playoff” stage, all the way to the two final matches, which is the first title in the league for “Al Fursan” in nearly a decade after the last crowning in the name of Al Shabab in the league season 2009- 2010, noting that the last title in the name of Al-Ahly club dates back to the 1986-87 season.
Al-Fursan prevented its guest Al-Nasr from retaining the title of the last season 2020-2021, and also deprived him of achieving a historic triple in the current season 2021-2021, which witnessed the crowning of the “Brigade” with the “President’s Cup” and “Super” titles at the expense of “Al Fursan”.
