The State Security Committee (KGB) of Belarus, in the course of a special operation to cleanse the radicals, received evidence of the involvement of a number of them in the commission of criminal acts. This was stated on Friday, July 16, by the deputy head of the investigative department of the KGB of the republic, Konstantin Bychek.
He clarified that we are talking about the organization of group actions that violate public order, and participation in them, as well as inciting social enmity or hatred, reports “BelTA“.
Bychek also clarified that the complex of measures to cleanse radicals in Belarus continues.
“The most active subscribers of destructive Telegram channels, such as OGSB, Busly Lyatsyats, Exomon and others, in relation to whom there was operational information about involvement in extremist activities, were searched. Traumatic weapons, ammunition, drugs, Nazi symbols and paraphernalia were seized, ”he said.
Earlier in July, the republic’s KGB reported the arrest of all the defendants in terrorist cells uncovered in Belarus.
On July 2, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced the completion of a large-scale anti-terrorist operation in the republic, carried out by the special services and security forces.
According to him, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, Lithuania and the United States are involved in the sleeping terrorist groups identified in the republic. He added that he assumed economic measures on the part of the listed states against Belarus, but they chose “terror within the country.”
The day before, the Belarusian leader pointed out that Russia and Belarus are being subjected to “open economic and political pressure.” The head of the republic believes that the goal of the West is to curb development, disrupt integration projects and change the course of Minsk. In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a telephone conversation with Lukashenko, expressed solidarity with Belarus, opposing unilateral illegitimate sanctions by Western countries.
