A Court of Madrid has decided to leave the journalist Guillermo ‘Willy’ Valadés on the edge of inventing cancer and getting his co -workers in the Cope chain, some of them the big sports stars of the station, donated up to 450,000 euros for a treatment that I did not need. The magistrate who investigates the case understands that he must be tried for a crime of aggravated scam and that his father will also face an accusation for money laundering after the main defendant has recognized that the disease was invented but because “scam being extorted ”
Valadés is a sports journalist who abandoned in 2010 the sports team of the SER chain to disembark in the COPE and its ‘game time’ along with the great stars of the chain: Paco González, Manolo Lama and Pepe Domingo Castaño. It was almost three years ago when he communicated to his companions of the station of the bishops that the doctors had diagnosed a cancer “in the head” of poor prognosis and that could only be fought through an experimental treatment of “protonopia”. The COPE sports team launched payments of more than 10,000 euros per week while receiving weekly diseases from the disease.
Those affected gave him, as he calculates now the number 24 of the capital, up to 450,000 euros that Salerion “of a budgetary item of the Sports Drafting” of the station. The reality, as Valadés himself has recognized before the judge, is that “the disease was invented” and that a part of that money, in addition, ended in his father’s account, who acknowledged having received that amount but to “help him with the reform of a house in the town ”. Valadés has recognized the facts but claiming that “he was being extorted.”
The decision of the judge, who has been able to examine eldiario.es, has been to leave him at the doors of trial through an abbreviated procedure. Both Willy Valadés and his company will be accused of a crime of aggravated scam and his father, in addition, from another of money laundering. The resolution explains how the judge discovered that the disease was false. The University of Navarra Clinic, where Valadés said he was receiving the expensive experimental treatment, said that “he has not been his patient, nor has he received cancer treatment.”
The sports journalist was denounced in May 2023 by COPE itself and up to 82 former companions of the station after the miraculous functioning of the treatment gave rise to the disappearance of Valadés. The BBVA also certified the Court that the money had reached its account and then had moved through “extractions and transfers.” The next step of the magistrate will be to open oral trial against Valadés and his father after the Prosecutor’s Office, the COPE and its former sports teammates of the broadcaster present their accusation writings.
