A well-known businessman from Fuente Álamo and the owners of Quesos El Roano, among those investigated. They have been summoned in June in court to give a statement
The head of the Court of Instruction number 7 of Lorca, Cristina Ojadas, has summoned to testify as investigated seven farmers who allegedly participated in the assault on the plenary session of the Lorca City Council on Monday, January 31. The judge believes that the incidents that occurred after the demonstration as a sign of protest against the conditions in the sector and the new regulations that the municipal government team intended to approve in relation to pig farms “have characteristics that suggest the possible existence of a crime of public disorder (terrorism)”, as revealed in the order issued last week, and to which THE TRUTH has had access.
Among the seven businessmen who will have to give explanations before the judge are the owners of Quesos El Roano. One of them, Pedro GR, acknowledged his participation in the assault a day later in this newspaper, although he was “absolutely sorry” and apologized to both the affected police officers and the City Council officials and councillors. His brother, Jaime GR, will also have to go to court to testify as being investigated.
The magistrate summons the president of Adespolorca as a witness and is interested in the injuries suffered by the police
The judge has also charged Fernando FM, known for owning large pig feedlots in the municipality of Fuente Álamo, although the analysis of the images captured by the security cameras have located him in Lorca during the assault on the City Council Plenary. Among those investigated for this alleged crime of “public disorder (terrorism)” are also José GC, José MR, Juan Antonio SM and Francisco Andrés RB They have all been summoned to testify in Lorca’s Investigating Court number 7 on June 13 at 9:30 a.m.
The complainants and the witness
Three months before the statements of the complainants will be produced. Among them are the Lorca City Council itself, the United Left councilman, Pedro Sosa, and three of the Local Police officers who tried to contain the assault and who suffered injuries while carrying out their duties. In fact, the judge has also ruled that two of the three policemen undergo a medical-forensic examination in order to determine the extent of the injuries after events that the mayor of the town, Diego José Mateos, branded on the same day of “attack against democracy”.
The accused will have to testify in the Court of Instruction number 7 Lorca on June 13
Francisco Román Quiñonero, president of the Pig Health Defense Group (Adespolorca), will also have to go to court on April 5 to testify, but in his case as a witness. Adespolorca, which has some 800 members, was one of the organizations that called the cattle ranchers’ protest that preceded the assault on the Plenary. The next day, Roman also showed his “rejection” of the violent altercations that occurred on January 31. But he came to justify them in a certain way by pointing out that “this situation is reached by not wanting to talk, not wanting to listen”, referring to the position of the City of Lorca with the new regulations on pig farms.
Likewise, the judge has issued an official letter to the Consistory to report “on the time called for the Plenary, if it was started and the reasons for not holding it.” The legal representative of the City of Lorca will have to testify in court in this regard on April 5.
On the other hand, the municipal plenary session that had to be suspended on January 31 as a result of the violent incidents is scheduled for this Tuesday, February 22.
