One of the most iconic actresses in Italian cinema is Gina Lollobrigida, the star has shared stages with Sophia Loren and was a friend of Salvador Dalí.
A few weeks ago he celebrated his 95th birthday and a month later he announced that he will participate in the elections on September 25 in Italy. The artist is pointing to the senate seats.

Lollobrigida will run on a hitherto unknown electoral list. ‘Italy Sovereign and Popular’ is a movement that brings together several leftist initiatives. The Communist Party, Civil Action and Socialist Homeland are part of the initiative.
Antonio Ingroia, the secretary of the Communist Party and leader of the group, is the personal lawyer of the actress. This relationship prompted Lollobrigida to enter politics.
In dialogue with the newspaper ‘Il Corriere della Sera’, the famous explained that “she is not crazy” and that her candidacy is due to the fact that she feels “tired of hearing politicians argue among themselves without ever getting anywhere”.

He also revealed that he had a friendship with Indira Gandhi, the daughter of Mahatma Gandhi who was assassinated in 1984.. He stated that this family is a political example for her and that they represent all of her beliefs.
This is not the first time that Lollobrigida has ventured into politics. In 1997 after retiring from acting, he ran for the European Parliament with a Democratic party led by Romano Prodi.
On that occasion, she was not elected and lacked at least ten thousand votes to fill the position. The actress herself affirmed that this experience taught her that “in life you can lose and you can win.”

The Italian diva has been called the ‘Marilyn Monroe’ of her country. He was born in 1927 in the Subiaco region, into a wealthy family. In 1947 he left his father’s house and moved to the capital to continue his art studies.
Shortly after arriving in Rome, she participated in beauty contests where she became known. Lollobrigida quickly entered the circle of European actors in Hollywood.
One of his first successes was ‘Campane a martello’, from 1949, and ‘Farfán el invincible’, an award-winning film at Cannes that assured him worldwide recognition.

Other of his best-known interpretations are those of ‘Pan, love and fantasy’ and ‘Our Lady of Paris’. He recorded more than sixty films and won a Golden Globe, as well as his own star on the Walk of Fame. Despite his nominations, he was never able to win an Oscar.
Gina Lollobrigida is currently involved in a legal battle with her only son, Milko Skofic, for control of her fortune and personal assets. Skofic assures her that her mother is not lucid enough to control her money and Lollobrigida is opposed to giving it to her eldest son.
