The thoughts of international critics on Metaphor: ReFantazio
VGCone of the publications that gave Metaphor: ReFantazio a perfect rating, wrote: “Metaphor: ReFantazio could easily have been a Persona, but it’s so much more. It combines incredibly fun and expansive combat with an excellent cast of characters that make the memorable journey of almost 100 hours.”
WellPlayed (90/100) wrote: “If you can only play one turn-based fantasy RPG this year, let it be this one. Swords and sorcery Persona is a beautifully crafted game.” GamePro Germany (89/100) instead wrote: “An excellent role-playing game with fantastic stories and a broad scope, but with room for improvement from a technical point of view.”
One of the lowest ratings is that of Digital Spy (3.5/5) which states: “Metaphor borrows key features from Persona, but executes these ideas less significantly, and in taking much from the beloved series, it takes a long time for Atlus’ latest effort to manage to carve out your own identity.”
In our review of Metaphor: ReFantazio, however, we told you that “The latest effort by Katsura Hashino and his Studio Zero is a great Japanese RPG with an identity problem…”
