The path of a supporter of what is known as the “new political incubator”, which was launched in Khartoum on Saturday, includes Brotherhood elements, armed movements and small parties, most of whom are loyal to the former regime, knowing that it faces sweeping popular opposition.
The mission’s media officer, Rola Henedy, confirmed to “Sky News Arabia” that the mission “feels the sufficient protection provided by the Sudanese police to its head and the team working with him.”
During a press conference last week, that is, before the launch of the “incubator”, Masar, head of the United Nations mission, Volker Peretz, warned against “interfering in Sudanese affairs,” recalling the fate of the English ruler of Sudan, George Gordon, who was killed in Khartoum in 1885.
Masar’s threats came after strict statements issued by the United Nations, the Security Council, the United States, Britain, France, Norway and a number of other countries, rejecting any attempt to obstruct the current transitional period that Sudan entered after the overthrow of the Bashir regime, following protests that began in April 2019.
Before the arrival of the international mission to Sudan in early 2021, elements of the former regime vowed to obstruct its work.
Since assuming the mission of head of the mission in February, Peretz has been calling for the need to support civil transformation, expressing the international community’s rejection of any attempts to block the path to the transitional period in Sudan.
The recent threats of Masar provoked great controversy in the Sudanese street, and reinforced the belief in the validity of reports that talk about the “creative chaos” scenario that is being implemented by the previous regime, to overthrow and abort civil transformation, especially since many Sudanese consider the “new incubator” that includes Masar, A coup against the revolution.
