The mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, said yesterday that the City Council is already taking the necessary measures in around a hundred buildings to comply with the Provincial Labor Inspection and comply with the regulations for the protection of occupational hazards.
«The requirements are already being executed. The City Council took good note and the four actions indicated by the Inspection are already being carried out, said the councilor. And he referred to the issues detailed by UGT, which filed a complaint with the Inspection: increasing the workforce of senior technicians in Occupational Risk Prevention, with at least one position (something that “is already provided for in the Public Employment Offer”, Arroyo said); adapt the tourist information office of the City Hall; keep the prevention delegates informed of the actions; and comply with the capacity and the recommendations for the prevention of Covid -19 in meetings.
UGT, MC and the plenary hall
“The labor authority has given the City Council a slap on the wrist,” said José Juan González Salas, head of the Local Administration sector of UGT in the Region. UGT claimed to be “scrupulous” in “the access and ventilation of the rooms”, to avoid risks. He referred to the “controversy” of the Plenary of October 28, when, “to avoid hearing the protest” salary of the officials, “the councilor decided to close the windows of the room.” MC denounced that they were like this for more than two hours, the time of the ventilation break indicated by the secretary, alluding to a “non-existent agreement.”
