The National Electoral Institute (INE) carried out this Friday the Sample Selection Protocol to carry out the 12 Quick Counts corresponding to the Federal and Local Electoral Processes for the period 2023-2024.
This procedure includes the elections for the Presidency of the Republic, senatorial offices, federal councils, eight governorships and the Head of Government of Mexico City.
The president advisor of the INEGuadalupe Taddei Zavalastated that with these actions, the Institute is ready to provide results in a “forceful way, with irreversible trends.”
He highlighted that the Quick Counts They are an essential tool for transparency and confidence in electoral processes.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the INE has worked to include elements that generate tranquility and trust between political actors and citizens, validating and respecting the results.
Importance of Quick Counts
At the event, Taddei Zavala pointed out that Quick Counts are based on rigorous scientific methods and are fundamental to strengthening democracy.
The president advisor also thanked the members of the Technical Advisory Committee for Quick Counts (COTECORA) for their work and performance, highlighting the commitment and co-responsibility of the local electoral institutes.
Counselor Carla Humphrey Jordan, president of the Federal Voter Registration Commission, stressed that Quick Counts are crucial to providing timely, truthful and reliable information on the same day as Election Day.
Humphrey Jordan explained that the samples from the boxes will be protected with cryptographic keys in the possession of three different people, ensuring that the results will be released only when the trends are irreversible.
Technical Rigor and Reliability
Councilor Jaime Rivera Velázquez highlighted the technical and logistical capacity of the INE to offer authentic and reliable results, highlighting the objectivity and neutrality of the electoral process. Rivera Velázquez mentioned the importance of the work of COTECORA, made up of experts in mathematics, statistics and computer science, and emphasized the effort of the institutional areas to collect the results.
The Protocol for the Selection of Samples was directed by María Fernanda Gil Leyva Villa and Alejandro Andrade Jaimes, who delivered the samples to the INE authorities for safekeeping.
The Director of the Electoral Office of the INE, Irene Maldonado Cavazos, and the notary public 190 of Mexico City, José Manuel Nuncio Rodríguez, were present to give faith and legality to the procedure.

More than 98 million Mexican men and women are called to exercise their right to vote this June 2, which highlights the relevance of the Electoral Register and the Nominal Voter Lists. This participation is crucial to strengthening democracy and ensuring that each citizen votes only once.
