The property, owned by the Community, was intended to house a European pollution control center
The Torre Pacheco City Council intends that the expansion of the Gerardo Molina Secondary Education Institute (IES), an old demand of the entire educational community, is carried out as soon as possible, and taking advantage of the facilities that exist next to the educational center and that are in disused for years.
Specifically, this property corresponds to the multipurpose building that the Autonomous Community began to build in 2010, with the Government of Ramón Luis Valcárcel, and whose purpose was to house a European center for the control of air pollution. The works did not come to fruition and are currently abandoned and depleted by acts of vandalism.
The Councilor for Finance of the Torre Pacheco City Council, Carlos López, estimated that, with an investment of just over one million euros, “the building could be integrated into the institute.”
