The group said that the first operation targeted the aircraft carrier “Eisenhower” in the northern Red Sea with a number of missiles and drones.
The group also targeted an American destroyer in the Red Sea with a number of drones, adding that it “achieved a direct hit.”
As for the other four operations, according to the Houthis, they included targeting ships “belonging to companies that violated the decision to ban entry to the ports of Palestine.”
The group stressed the continuation of its military operations until “the aggression stops and the siege on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is lifted,” as it said.
The US and British militaries said they launched raids on Houthi targets in Yemen last Thursday as part of efforts to deter the group from continuing to target shipping in the Red Sea.
US Central Command reported that US and British forces launched strikes on 13 targets in areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen.
According to the British Ministry of Defense, the joint operation targeted three sites in the coastal city of Hodeidah on the Red Sea, noting that they contained drones and surface-to-air weapons.
The Houthis have been launching attacks targeting international shipping traffic in the Red Sea since November in solidarity with the Palestinians in light of the ongoing war in Gaza, as they say, which sparked American and British retaliatory strikes since February.
