Abu Dhabi (Al-Ittihad) “Holding” (ADQ) issued its second report from “Holding” (ADQ) Forward entitled “The Roadmap to Clean and Sustainable Energy”. The report reviews the path of the energy sector at the local and global levels, and discusses technologies and solutions capable of reducing carbon emissions, accelerating the UAE’s access to the goals of its sustainability agenda and expanding the range of investment opportunities. The report also identifies six main catalysts for a successful transition towards clean energy, enabling the UAE to benefit from opportunities for growth and economic diversification: – Disseminate clean energy certificates on a larger scale, allowing consumers and major manufacturers to document their renewable energy sources and use of clean energy. Utilizing carbon capture, use and storage technology as a vital tool to combat climate change and achieve global carbon emissions reduction goals.
Providing a diversified mix of energy sources, to enhance their flexibility by investing in other sources such as solar and nuclear energy, and increasing reliance on renewable and clean sources.
Investment in the hydrogen system: consolidating the UAE’s position as a pioneer in blue and green hydrogen initiatives to increase hydrogen’s capabilities in achieving sustainability goals.
-Development of reverse osmosis plants: Enhancing the capabilities of reverse osmosis water desalination to produce potable water that increases energy efficiency by up to 50% over conventional thermal desalination plants.
Strengthen cooperation between partners: Take collectively coordinated action between the energy and industry sectors and between policy makers, regulators and government to accelerate the expansion of renewables capacity at scale.
