The Iraqi health spokesman, Saif Al-Badr, said in a statement: “The statistics of hemorrhagic fever infections since the beginning of 2022 amounted to 194 cases, including 32 deaths.”
Previous figures had reported that 162 people had been injured, 27 of whom had died.
And the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture identified, earlier, 4 factors that contributed to the high incidence of hemorrhagic fever in Iraq.
The factors include the lack of veterinary staff, the continued indiscriminate slaughter of animals inside cities, and the lack of attention to the cleanliness of animal pens, as well as the reduction of official working hours as part of the measures to confront the Corona virus.
Hemorrhagic fever is an infectious disease, with mild symptoms such as fever and fatigue, to severe life-threatening ones, such as kidney failure and damage to the walls of blood vessels.
Viral hemorrhagic fever spreads through contact with infected animals or insects, knowing that the viruses that cause this type of fever live in many animal and insect families, and they mostly include mosquitoes, ticks, rodents or bats.
