The head of the traffic police, Mikhail Chernikov, predicted an increase in demand for technical inspections against the background of the cancellation of the obligation to carry them out to obtain an OSAGO policy. He spoke about this in an interview with the TV channel “Russia 1”, he is quoted by TASS…
“We calculated the economy. It is billions of rubles to get the form. We will systematically go into honest diagnostics. I will receive a diagnostic card with problems in my vehicle that need to be fixed, not in order to receive a document. There will probably even be an influx here. I predict this by voluntariness, ”he said.
Earlier, auto lawyer Lev Voropaev commented on the law on the abolition of compulsory technical inspection of cars to obtain an OSAGO policy. According to him, any cancellation of additional requirements for the driver from the point of view of document flow always benefits citizens. The expert noted that no one abolishes the technical inspection itself.
Earlier on July 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the abolition of mandatory vehicle inspection in order to obtain an OSAGO policy. The law will come into force on 22 August. According to the document, drivers will not need to present a diagnostic card and technical inspection to obtain an OSAGO policy. The absence of a technical inspection document will not entail punishment if the driver gets into an accident.
