The United States is discussing with its allies the prospects for new assistance to Kyiv, which includes both the supply of weapons and the training of Ukrainian military personnel. This was announced on September 29 by the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin.
“We are discussing with our allies new measures to support Ukraine in its efforts to protect the territory, and we will continue to do so,” Austin said during a press conference.
The head of the Pentagon added that this includes both the supply of additional weapons and assistance in the field of logistics, as well as the training of the Ukrainian military.
Earlier in the day, the Pentagon awarded a nearly $12.1 million contract to SRCTec, a communications and military equipment manufacturer, to maintain the UKR/TPQ-50 radars for the needs of the Ukrainian army.
The U.S. Senate also approved a $12.4 billion additional assistance project for Kyiv. It is noted that the funds will be used for “aid related to Ukraine, including the provision of training, the provision of military equipment, weapons, logistical support, as well as direct financial support to the government of Ukraine” .
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that the volume of American financial assistance to Ukraine will soon reach an astronomical amount of $26 billion.
It became known yesterday that the United States will send Ukraine another $1.1 billion military aid package, including HIMARS MLRS and armored vehicles.
Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted on September 27 that the United States is getting closer to becoming a party to the conflict in Ukraine. This is how he commented to journalists on the statement by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken that Washington does not object to the use of Western weapons by Kyiv in regions that may become part of Russia after the referendums.
Prior to that, on September 21, the Pentagon signed a contract for the production of Switchblade 600 loitering projectiles for $2.2 million to be delivered to Ukraine.
In addition, on September 15, US President Joe Biden ordered another $600 million military aid package to be allocated to Kyiv. According to the Pentagon, it will include ammunition for HIMARS, artillery shells, anti-unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) systems and radars.
According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the North Atlantic Alliance is entering into a proxy war with Russia, supplying weapons to Ukraine. He noted that Western weapons supplied to Kyiv would be a legitimate target for the Russian military.
Russia continues a special operation to protect Donbass. The decision to hold it was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region as a result of increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
