Moldovan Foreign Minister: Chisinau has questions about the number of Russian diplomats in the country
Deputy Prime Minister, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Moldova Nicu Popescu said that he had questions about the number of Russian diplomats in the country. This is reported RIA News.
According to him, Chisinau sees a “hostile, aggressive, wrong, disrespectful policy towards Moldova” on the part of Russia. In this regard, the minister stressed, everyone has questions about the number of people who do not participate in resolving and minimizing problems in relations with Russia.
Popescu noted that a large number of employees of the diplomatic mission should help to improve relations between the countries. He noted that there have already been cases of expulsions of persons from the diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation. “If Russia continues its unfriendly policy towards Moldova, statements and actions that will relate to the destabilization of the situation in Moldova will impose costs and stress on the economy, on the country, on our citizens, it is obvious that answers will follow, including through the diplomatic line,” – said the head of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry.
Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that Moldova and Russia have always lacked mutual respect in relations, despite the efforts of Chisinau. According to her, it was not possible to get a respectful attitude from Moscow even with the help of cooperation agreements, “including agreements on strategic cooperation or agreements at the CIS level.”
