The Frunzensky District Court of Vladivostok arrested the head of the Partizansky District, Lev Khamkhoev, for two months, suspected of abuse of power. This was reported on Saturday, February 19, in the press service of the Primorsky Territory Prosecutor’s Office.
“Taking into account the position of the prosecutor, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of one month and 30 days in relation to the person involved,” the report says.
Criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of power) in relation to Khamkhoev was initiated two days ago.
According to the regional Investigative Committee, in March 2021, the head of the Partizansky District, on far-fetched grounds, terminated a municipal contract worth more than 22 million rubles, which was concluded between the administration and a legal entity as part of a fire safety program. Then he initiated the conclusion of a similar contract with another organization, raising the amount of the contract to 31 million rubles, they were fully paid.
According to investigators, a search was conducted at the suspect’s place of residence, and documentation was seized from the offices of these private companies.
On February 6, the Minister of Tourism and Health Resorts was arrested in Stavropol for two months. He is suspected of exceeding his official powers when concluding a contract to hold a fireworks festival.
The minister was detained the day before, February 5. According to the investigation, the actions of the minister caused damage to the budget of the region in the amount of more than 25.1 million rubles.
