The Gulf Cooperation Council stressed, on Sunday, the necessity of an immediate ceasefire, avoiding military escalation on Lebanon’s southern borders, protecting civilians and exercising restraint, and preventing the expansion of the conflict in the region.
In a statement he issued, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, His Excellency Jassim bin Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, affirmed the Gulf Cooperation Council’s firm positions with the Lebanese people and its continued support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, security and stability.
He noted what was stated in the ministerial statement of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, calling for the necessity of fully implementing Security Council Resolution No. 1701, which included the need for Israel to respect the Lebanese borders and extend the Lebanese government’s control over all Lebanese lands, in accordance with the relevant Security Council resolutions and the Taif Agreement, in order to Lebanon exercises full sovereignty.
