Now in summer, the falling corona incidence ensures relaxation. But what will be in the fall? The opposition is putting pressure on schools.
Berlin – Now it is the turn of the children and young people in the Corona crisis. Current tweets from Christian Drosten and Karl Lauterbach can be read. “Schools in autumn need the highest level of attention in autumn,” wrote Drosten on Friday. That Saturday, the virus follower promptly received a retweet from Lauterbach, which seconded: “In autumn we cannot start school again unprepared.”
The SPD health expert immediately provided suggestions – and the opposition in the Bundestag is also putting pressure on the issue. The Greens, the Left and the FDP are urging the GroKo to better prepare the country for possibly increasing numbers of infections after the summer. In particular the schools, said Left Chairwoman Janine Wissler mirror. This was completely neglected last summer.
Corona crisis: Greens accuse Merkel government of “planning failure”
“More tests after the holidays, air filters, more school buses for the autumn” demanded Wissler. The vaccination must urgently be accelerated, and the need for a third vaccination in autumn must be expected. Therefore, the planned closure of the vaccination centers is “wrong and premature”.
Green parliamentary group leader Katrin Göring-Eckardt also fears another wave because of the mutations. “With the delta variant, the planning failure of the federal government must not be repeated again,” she said. You should not rest on the currently low infection rates.
Greens are calling for double testing for returnees from risk areas
Göring-Eckardt calls for test stations to be set up “now” at the borders and to oblige all those returning from vacation to tests. “Anyone returning from risk areas should be tested twice,” she said. The vaccination campaign must also target people who have previously been unsure about the vaccination or who have missed their deadlines for the second vaccination.
The parliamentary manager of the FDP parliamentary group, Marco Buschmann, is also pushing for a change in the vaccination campaign. “We also need more mobile vaccination teams in the area in order to better educate and reach those who are undecided. This applies in particular to socially disadvantaged areas, ”said Buschmann.
In addition, he called on the federal government to “buy up vaccine capacities from those countries in which the willingness to vaccinate is waning. This is currently the case in the USA, for example. ”The FDP politician said that“ too late and too little vaccine for follow-up vaccinations should not be ordered again ”. (AFP / frs)
