Adriana Lastra, number two of Sánchez, will from now on have the mission of piloting a socialist party that over the next few months intends to thoroughly renew its regional organizations
The radical crisis of Government attacked by Pedro Sánchez in the Government last July – with the departure of Carmen Calvo, Iván Redondo and José Luis Ábalos – will have its second part in the party next October, during the 40th Federal Congress of the PSOE. There are still surprises, but this Monday it was already known that Adriana Lastra will be replaced as spokesperson in Congress by Héctor Gómez and that Eva Granados will become spokesperson in the Senate instead of Ander Gil, for more than a month president of the Camera.
Lastra will continue to serve as deputy secretary general for training, that is, as number two, but she will no longer be in charge of running the parliamentary group on a day-to-day basis, and of acting as a scourge of the PP in Congress. In return, it is expected that he will have a greater presence in internal management, with the support of Santos Cerdán, Ábalos’ main collaborator in the Organization secretary, promoted to the position after his defenestration.
The name of the relay of Asturian politics in the Lower House was advanced yesterday by Cadena Ser. Héctor Gómez, Canarian deputy for Tenerife, has been in charge of the area of international relations in the Executive of the PSOE since 2017. His profile is, however, little known to the general public and even to a large part of the formation that he will now have to represent in the high-voltage debates that are expected for the next course.
In the Senate, the same responsibility will fall on the Catalan Eva Granados, already struggled in similar issues in the Parliament of Catalonia during the last legislature, in which she served as Miquel Iceta’s trusted woman. Granados will occupy the position that Gil left free by replacing Pilar Llop, current Minister of Justice, as the fourth authority of the State.
