In Orenburg, the tombstone of Ekaterina Oglodkova, a representative of the famous merchant family who lived in the city in the 19th century, will be taken away from the territory of the Orenburg Diocese. Her grave was lost after the revolution.
The tombstone will be transported to the Alexander Nevsky chapel at the local cemetery. Earlier, this initiative was made by representatives of the city administration for culture, the mobile historical shadow theater and local historians. A descendant of the Oglodkov family will be present at the ceremony of transferring the slab.
As reminds RIA “Orenburzhye”The Oglodkovs were among the first to establish trade with Central Asia, they were engaged in the extraction of salt, and were well-known benefactors. Ekaterina Oglodkova died on May 9, 1895.
In Orenburg, the Oglodkovs’ estate, included in the list of cultural heritage sites, has been preserved. Until recently, the owner of the estate was Teffi Rothschild, but the mayor’s office canceled the contract with her. The fact is that no restoration work was carried out in the estate, and in the summer the court ruled that the replacement of heating and electrical wiring was a violation.
