According to Kozhemyako, it is necessary to develop a plan for a rescue operation to dismantle the containers in order to understand how dangerous they are for the crew and the environment.
The Governor clarified that there are no dangerous goods on board the container ship. The vessel has a crack along the fourth contour of the containers, he said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the captain of the container ship Rise Shine, which ran aground in the Sea of Japan, said that there was a threat to the life of the crew. Rescuers from the Nakhodka search rescue squad of the EMERCOM of Russia and the Nakhodka fire garrison moved to the scene of the incident from the city of Nakhodka.
Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor’s Office upon the fact of the incident, a check is carried out. In particular, compliance with the requirements of the legislation on the safety of navigation is checked. It is also reported that according to the results of the audit, “an assessment will be made of the timeliness and completeness of the measures taken to prevent and eliminate the spill of oil products.”
Meanwhile, as a local resident told Izvestia, there is a smell of fuel oil all over the coast in the area of a grounded container ship.
The distress signal was received the day before at 06:02 (23:02 Moscow time). It was reported that the container ship Rise Shine ran aground and broke in half. The rescuer “Lazurit” is to go to the aid of the container ship from Vladivostok.
According to the prosecutor’s office, there are no Russian citizens among the 14 crew members. According to open sources, Rise Shine flies under the flag of Panama. The vessel is capable of a maximum speed of 11.3 knots.
