The Government has focused a good part of its efforts in the Recovery and Resilience Plan on the rehabilitation of homes as a way to move towards a more sustainable economy with the help of European funds. In the proposal that the Executive must send to Brussels before April 30, deductions of up to 60% are established for those who bet on remodeling their houses so that they are more ‘green’ and efficient.
The Executive thus intends to recover those tax deductions for rehabilitation that disappeared in 2013, especially among individuals, so the tax advantage will be made on the Personal Income Tax (IRPF).
As explained by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, 450 million euros have been reserved to carry out the plan, which will be used as necessary, of the 6,820 million of European funds that will be allocated to the branch of ‘ urban rehabilitation and regeneration ‘within the Recovery Plan. It is the second most important in the program, only behind the 13.2 billion raised for the Sustainable, Safe and Connected Mobility Strategy.
Improving energy efficiency is the main objective of this program. To encourage it, the Government will apply a deduction of up to 60% on personal income tax, depending on the work and the type of home.
On the one hand, there will be two types of deductions for works that contribute to the improvement of the energy efficiency of a Habitual housing. Those who, with these works, manage to reduce the demand for heating and cooling in the home by at least 7%, comparable to replacing windows with a high-performance one, will have access to a 20% deduction.
On the other hand, if these works reduce energy consumption by 30%, citizens will be able to benefit from a 40% deduction.
The second point of the proposal concerns rehabilitation works that contribute to improving energy efficiency in predominantly residential buildings, which would reach 60% if it is possible to reduce the consumption of non-renewable energy by at least 30%, or, the improvement of the energy rating of the building to obtain an energy class “A” or “B”, in the same rating scale.
