The Government will enable 44 new offices to assist those affected by DANAwhich will be added to the 16 already existing in the Valencian Community. In total, there will be 60 offices in this community that directly serve citizens, plus the two established in Castilla-La Mancha.
“This is about reinforcing not only the proximity but also the management of necessary aid for all those affected,” the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food announced at a press conference this Sunday, Luis Planaswho appeared after the meeting held by the Crisis Committee to monitor the effects of the storm, chaired by the President of the Government, Pedro Sanchez.
Planas has indicated that, in addition, 372 public employees have been mobilized and 133 new employees have been hiredCorreos and Tragsa staff. Regarding the recovery tasks of farmers and ranchers, the minister has detailed that an expert report will first be carried out to determine the damage caused.
“We have approved 200 million euros for all those farms that have been affected by more than 40% of their farm due to the result of this DANA. We have already mobilized 140 agroinsurance experts who, together with satellite images plus field visits, will be able to establish the reality of this damage,” Planas indicated.
As he has highlighted, these expert reports will be processed “as quickly as possible” crossing the data with the Tax Agency and through the Spanish Agrarian Guarantee Fund. Asked when the aid could arrive, Planas predicted that it could be in less than 90 days.
After the expert reports, the reestablishment of agricultural and livestock farms with a budget of 170 million euros, which will be allocated to the removal of debris, repair of rural roads, restoration of irrigation ditches, water channels, among other tasks. In addition, a ministerial order will be approved in the coming weeks of 10 million euros for facilities and vehicles of an auxiliary nature in agricultural activity such as damaged tractors and trailers.
Planas recalled that the primary sector already has the first section of the ICO DANA Guarantee Line, for an amount of 1,000 millionto facilitate the financing and coverage of agri-food industry and storage facilities.
