The Secretary of State for Democratic Memory has asked the Government Delegation in Madrid to collect information about the protest organized by Falange last Friday, which ended in front of the headquarters of the PSOE on the street Ferrazwith the objective of evaluating whether said demonstration violated the Democratic Memory Law.
Sources from the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory have informed Efe that, through the Secretariat of State for Democratic Memory, a report on the demonstration will be requested from the Government Delegation in Madrid. The objective is to determine whether it is appropriate to initiate a disciplinary proceeding for the events recorded during the protest.
Videos published on the X (formerly Twitter) account of the Spanish Falange show protesters singing the Face to the sun in front of the PSOE headquarters. According to sources from the Government Delegation cited by Efe, 600 people participated in the demonstrationwhich took place last Friday night and covered the section between the outskirts of the headquarters of the PPon the street Genoaand that of the PSOE.
The PSOE demands that Feijóo comment on the songs
The same sources indicate that the demonstration, held under the slogan “Against everything rotten”, in reference to the PP and the PSOE, passed without violent incidents or arrests. Spanish Falange, organizer of the protest, had previously communicated the call to the Government Delegation.
This Saturday, the PSOE expressed their “most absolute condemnation of a new fascist demonstration” and stressed that this type of act will not intimidate the socialists. Likewise, they have installed the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóoto pronounce on the songs of the Face to the sun chanted during the protest.
The Democratic Memory Law, approved in 2022, establishes sanctions that range between 200 and 150,000 euros for conduct that violates the regulations, such as carrying out acts in public spaces that glorify the military uprising, Civil warthe Franco dictatorship.
