Through the administrative provision published this Friday in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Alberto Fernández, the National Executive enabled the holding of “the Presidential Primary Elections of the Republic of Chile, for which purpose it is necessary to carry out in Argentine territory the corresponding electoral act on July 18, for the suffrage of Chilean citizens and Chilean citizens residing in our country. “
The regulation exempted the development of elections from the restriction to hold social events in closed places that involve the concurrence of people, as well as in the districts considered to be of “high epidemiological and sanitary risk.”
With this provision are allowed “travel in the public transport service of passengers of the people reached by this measure “, who must limit themselves to” strict compliance “with the vote.
In addition, it was clarified in the publication that this activity “must be carried out in accordance with the ‘Presidential Primary Health Protocol – Foreign Voting Centers – Summary Health Measures'” defined for these elections in particular, which will be complemented with the’ Recommendations for holding of elections of authorities of foreign countries in Argentine territory within the framework of covid-19 ‘that have been in force since last year and have already been used in other electoral events, such as the presidential elections in Bolivia.
The National Electoral Directorate shall coordinate, within the framework of its respective competences, with the pertinent jurisdictions, “the actions necessary for the development of the elections in the Republic of Chile.”
