The Government and Junts have announced an agreement for the distribution of unaccompanied migrants who are in the Canary Islands among the rest of the communities. The agreed formula is a decree to modify article 35 of the Foreigners Law that will establish “fair and equitable criteria” that will serve “both to resolve the humanitarian situation and to be more effective in integration tasks and to provide life opportunities for children”. It will be approved on Tuesday in the Council of Ministers.
Among the criteria will be the population weight but, says Junts, also “will take into account the effort made by Catalonia over the last years.” He assures that the cast will be made “among those communities that have not welcomed or made a much lower effort compared to the effort made by Catalonia” and that means that – according to the formation – Madrid will host “more than 700” and Catalunya “between 20 and 30”.
Finally, the pact includes a “financial compensation” for the communities that have had places above the average of which they corresponded.
PP and Junts knocked down the reform in summer
The Minister of Territorial Policy, Angel Víctor Torres, had repeated in recent weeks his intention to agree by law rescued in the Canary Islands by the rest of autonomies and improve their reception.
At present, Canary Islands guardianship more than 5,500 children and adolescents in more than 80 devices distributed throughout the archipelago. Those responsible for the Regional Executive have already recognized that in many of them the fundamental rights of young people cannot be guaranteed.
News in expansion.
