German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed, on Sunday, his regret for not being able to drive a car himself, except in rare cases due to his work.
During the East German Business Forum in the city of Bad Saarau in the state of Brandenburg, Schulz said, “I am fond of driving cars.”
The politician, who belongs to the Social Democratic Party, added, “I take advantage of the few opportunities in which I can do it myself.”
Asked if he would buy an electric car for personal use, Schulz said, “I don’t have a personal car at all.”
Germany is one of the largest car manufacturing countries in the world.
Schulz explained that he is now only allowed to drive armored vehicles, and that these vehicles cannot cover the distances required to be covered with electric power.
He added, expecting the current situation to change in the future, “but it will happen.”
