This development comes at a time when Russia is facing the worst outbreak of injuries and deaths since the beginning of the Corona pandemic.
Putin had previously received two doses of the “Sputnik V” vaccine developed by Russia against the “Covid 19” disease, which is caused by the Corona virus.
On Sunday, the Russian president said he had received a third booster dose of “Sputnik Lite”, a single-dose vaccine.
Putin added that he wants to participate in the trial of the nasal version of the “Sputnik V” vaccine.
Denis Loganov, deputy director of the state-funded “Gamalia” center that developed the “Sputnik V” vaccine, told Putin on Sunday that the nasal vaccine is still being tested on individuals, and is currently being studied and monitored.
Putin explained at a government meeting on Wednesday that “precisely 6 months after my vaccination, my antibodies decreased and specialists recommended re-vaccination, which I did,” according to the Associated Press.
The president noted that he did not feel any uncomfortable effects after receiving the nasal vaccine.
This comes amid low vaccination rates and lax adherence to precautionary measures in Russia, where less than 40 percent of 146 million people received the full vaccine.
Russia recorded 33,558 new infections on Wednesday, and 1,240 deaths from the Corona virus.
In total, the country recorded more than 9.4 million confirmed infections and 267,000 deaths due to “Covid 19”, which is the highest death toll ever in Europe.
