Despite being based in Mexico, the game’s map is not a genuine recreation, and there is a good reason behind it.
Recently, the 3DJuegos team had the opportunity to interview Mike brown, Creative Director of Forza Horizon 5. Among the interesting information he gave us while we chatted, is the reason behind the locations on the game map, which are a combination of real and fictional locations.
A genuine recreation of Mexico would be very difficult to cross by car.Mike brownThe community of Mexico, the country where this installment of the franchise is located, I expected to see towns and other familiar places on the vast map. However, the Playground Games studio had to consider the best for the operation of the game.
“Obviously we mixed a little bit in both sections,” said Brown. “I think it is in certain cases, where for example, we have a limited space on the map, and only one town fits in that area. If you have 3 places that should fit into that zone, that’s where our creative freedom comes into play. “
“We can make a new town with the elements that we liked the most from the 3 real places, and the combination works well,” Brown continued. “I think all that philosophy applies to the map as a whole. Obviously, the game is not a genuine recreation from Mexico, and that’s because it would be a huge place, and very difficult to cross by car. “
The zones had to be altered to improve the game design.According to Brown, the zones had to be slightly altered, to improve the design of the game. The same happened with Forza Horizon 4, and according to Brown, it is that creative freedom that allows the studio to deliver the experience for which the Forza saga is already recognized.
The forza Horizon 5 map will be a very interesting one to explore, and not only because of these changes that the studio applied, but because of its system of seasons that will keep it constantly evolving.
