AP: police detained former Polish Interior Minister Kaminski and his deputy Wonsik
Polish police detained the former head of the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mariusz Kamiński, and his deputy, Maciej Wońsik, at the presidential palace in Warsaw during the appointment ceremony of advisers to head of state Andrzej Duda. This is reported by Associated Press (AP).
Kaminski and Wonsik were found guilty of abuse of power in a case relating to events dating back to 2007. In 2015, President Duda granted them an amnesty. However, the current Polish authorities assure that the head of state did not have the right to do this.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk dismissed the heads of all Polish intelligence services. On December 13, Tusk was sworn in by Polish President Andrzej Duda and assumed the position of Prime Minister of the country.
