The United States tried in every possible way to drag out negotiations on security guarantees after Russia presented its proposals on this matter. Washington was accused of this in the Russian Foreign Ministry, reports TASS on Saturday, January 22nd.
“From the American side, we saw mostly obvious attempts to drag out the discussion of the specific parameters we propose for various expert levels and formats,” the ministry said.
They emphasized that instead of focusing on specific responses to Moscow’s initiatives, Washington, along with its allies, launched a “extremely toxic” information campaign directed against Russia and representing it as an “enemy of civilized Europe” and the main threat to stability in the region.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova complained that on the eve of the Russian-American meeting in Geneva, the US State Department published another propaganda bulletin about Russian policy “in the Ukrainian direction.” According to her, the State Department material was formulated “on the basis of individual stories taken out of context.” At the same time, “approaches that have nothing to do with reality” were attributed to Moscow.
