Residents of La Palma and lovers of the traditions of the Campo de Cartagena celebrated yesterday the traditional Bread Day, organized by the City of Cartagena Folkloric Group, at the House of Folklore in Palma. It is customary on this day to teach the smallest of the group how to knead the typical Easter bread and sweets. They also set up the Christmas tree, there were musical performances and they shared a lunch based on crumbs and sausages from the land.
On this occasion, there was a large presence of members of the municipal government team: the deputy mayor, Manuel Padín, the area councilors and Culture delegate, David Martínez Noguera and Carlos Piñana, respectively.
The House of Folklore of La Palma celebrates 21 years of existence maintaining the folkloric traditions of the region. In addition, the Ciudad de Cartagena de La Palma Folk Group will receive the Traditional and Community Culture Award within the II Cartagena Culture Awards, which will be delivered at a gala on March 3 at El Batel.
