The majority of the Fiscal Council, with the impetus of the majority and conservative Association of Prosecutors, has called this Thursday on the State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, to resign from his position following the decision of the Supreme Court to open a case against him for alleged revelation of secrets.
As he did this morning before the Board of Prosecutors, Álvaro García Ortiz has appeared firm before the Fiscal Council – the main advisory body of the public ministry – in his decision to continue leading the institution.
The six members of the Fiscal Council belonging to the Association of Prosecutors (AF) and that of the Professional and Independent Association of Prosecutors (APIF) have insisted that García Ortiz must resign to preserve the image and impartiality of the institution.
