The promoters have defended that the initiative, which has a budget of execution of 1.9 million, is an alternative to the patriarchal model, which relegates the feines of priests to the gifts. “The nuclear family model is exhausted“says Míriam Solà, member of the Morada cooperative.
The house is located on the Plaça de les Dones de Nou Barris and on the coast of the Cirerers cooperative. The countries, designs by the cooperative of architects Lacolare designed to be open, safe and communitarian and “to meet the needs that are not found in conventional habitats.”
“It’s not just a house, it’s the creation of an alternative to the simple model of life and coexistence that the patriarchal system offers,” agreed one of the inhabitants of the cooperative, Silvia Merinoin the parliaments of the presentation act.
A large part of the financing of the building has been contributed by the cooperative of financiers Coop57, amounting to 1,475,000 euros. This project has received funding from the Catalan Housing Agency for 343,400 euros, from the Barcelona City Council of 45,000 and 40,400 euros, and from the ICAEN.
“Guarantee of permanence”
The 12 occupants of the house defend that it is a way of accessing the habitation “more accessible than buying and renting” since the monthly fee they will pay will not change and has a “guarantee of permanence” because The cessió d’ús del sol is 60 years.
“It is one of the few housing cooperatives in Catalonia that stands free from speculation, only in the private market and now turns into a social use,” said Solà, who has stated that the 12 apartments are qualified with habitatges of official protection.
The building comprises both common spaces such as a kitchen, a bugaderia or a space for working or being creative. On the ground floor there is also a space available for travelers, thinking about a social economy project.
The project to create a feminist cooperative for a sexually dissident community will begin to take place soon, in 2018, when the Dinamo Foundation will buy the site in 2018. La Morada will support the open call to exploit the sun and fer-hi cooperative a any despres.
Furthermore, the promoters of the cooperative house have regretted that there is no greater emphasis on making the cooperative model more accessible to the most vulnerable people. The increase in construction costs has impacted the project, which is smaller than the cooperatives that typically have more than 30 floors.
