Former congresswoman and lawyer Paca Sauquillo, founder and current honorary president of the NGO Movement for Peace, Disarmament and Freedom (IMPDL) has been awarded the III Rojana ‘Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba’ Award, granted by the Felipe González Foundation, in recognition of “a life at the service of the best human values”. “It represents – says the organization in a note released to the media – everything we want to reward and goes further, the fight for the most disadvantaged, solidarity, feminism and the defense of peace.”
The award ceremony, a tribute with a Cantabrian name to the memory of whom the foundation itself defines as a key figure in Spanish politics “fundamental to understanding a large part of the period of democracy”, will take place on June 12 at the Jardines de la Residencia de Estudiantes de Madrid and will have the participation of the former chief of staff of the former Minister of the Interior and former Secretary General of the Socialists, Gregorio Martínez, with Elena Pérez Rubalcaba and the 2022 Rojana Prize Joan Manuel Serrat.
On this occasion, the Catalan singer has also been part of the jury chaired by the former deputy general secretary of the PSOE together with María González Romero, Jaime Lissavetzky, Josu Jon Imaz, María Dolores Gorostiaga, José Antonio Zarzalejos, José Enrique Serrano and the 2021 winner, José Maria Perez ‘Peridis’.
