Senator Gibatdinov proposed limiting the number of children taken into custody
Federation Council Senator Ayrat Gibatdinov developed a bill according to which the number of children who can be taken into custody cannot be more than three. He reported this RIA Novosti.
This number will not include natural children. An exception to this rule, as stated in the accompanying documents, will be those cases when “brothers or sisters, as well as children who were previously raised with the same person or in the same family,” are placed under guardianship or guardianship.
In addition, the bill prohibits the registration of guardianship for more than one child per year. Here, the exception will also apply to brothers and sisters or those who were previously raised together by the same person.
The senator developed the document together with the head of the State Duma Committee on Family Issues, Nina Ostanina. The draft law has already been sent for an opinion from the legal department of the Federation Council.
Earlier, the State Duma proposed allowing temporary guardianship of children without orphan status. According to the current Federal Law “On Guardianship and Trusteeship”, children who are actually left without parental care, but do not have orphan status, cannot receive guardianship and receive support measures due to orphans.
